Getting Involved

The CCGRA has a number of competitive Rodeo Cowboys and Women. It also has a number of members with various levels of experience in horsemanship. If members are interested in developing their riding experience...or in having their first...the CCGRA runs a number of Trail Rides throughout the year.

Rodeo Involvement:

IGRA Rodeos include all of the traditional Rodeo events such as Roping, Timed Horse Events, Bull Riding and Bareback Bronc Riding. What sets them apart however is the sense of community...the sense of fun...and the unique additional "Camp Events". Going by names such as Goat Dressing, Steer Decorating and Wild Drag they range from a race against the clock to pull underwear onto an unsuspecting Goat to teams of two racing to tie a ribbon on a steer's tail. Gay rodeos are as much fun for the competitors as they are for the spectator.

For those that are interested in learning more about Gay Rodeo...attending their first as a spectator...or perhaps even competing in one...the CCGRA stands ready to share knowledge and support. Every year there are also a couple of Rodeo Schools around North America that provide an opportunity to learn the art and safe practices of Traditional Rodeo events. As for the 'camp' events...they are fun and accessible...even to the total beginner. If you are interested in learning more then we encourage you to contact us and get involved.

Finally...a great way to get involved is as a volunteer. The CCGRA needs team leaders and team members. Regardless of your background or Skill Set we are interested in hearing from you. Given that we will soon be hosting over 200 delegates for the IGRA Convention we will have a particular need for volunteers willing to commit their time during that week in November. Plese see our Volunteer tab under 2009 IGRA Conv if you would like to help us to showcase our city!
